Dr Sundar Menon is an NRI versatile industrialist and social activist. True to his fundamental ethos of social service, he dedicates his time and energy to uplifting the downtrodden. Uplifting the destitute tribal population of Kerala has been a major undertaking of his. Recognizing Dr. Menon's social work, the Govt. of India conferred him with the acclaimed Padma Shri. Born on March 8th, 1962, Dr. Menon established Sun Group International in the Middle East 33 years ago. Over time, the group has diversified into Marine Fuels Trading, offshore bunkering, on-shore fuel transportation, Fuel stations, construction, and the film industry. It has provided employment to several people Gulf Region, South America, USA and India. He steers 30 voluntary NGO organizations in India. He runs the Sun charitable trust for welfare works in India. A few of his recent and significant initiatives are:
He is the Chief Patron and Goodwill Ambassador of Shanthi Medical Information Centre (SMIC). SMIC has adopted two villages in Attappadi (Kerala), focusing on the core sectors of Sanitation, Health, Education, Employment and Agriculture. Around 30,000 tribal citizens have been rehabilitated. Some of his humanitarian enterprises in this region are:
· Initiatives were taken to establish the APJ Abdul Kalam Tribal International Residential School (English medium) for providing free education to the kids of this Area.
· A napkin-making unit was constructed for providing free sanitation supply and hygiene awareness campaigns were conducted.
· Provision of physiotherapy Support (Physiotherapy Centre at Attappadi ), free dialysis, and houses for the debilitated.
· An Indian lying in a coma for the past 14 months was airlifted from Dubai to their habilitation center at Attappadi (Kerala) for specialist treatment.
· Many toilets were constructed and hygiene awareness was provided to the tribal people. The construction of special “PINK” toilets with napkin vending machines and incinerators was done for the girl students of the schools. The Central Govt. has appreciated this concept and has given
a directive to all schools in India to adopt this, notably the Kendriya Vidyalayas. This directive is a part of the Prime Minister‟s Swach Bharath Mission.
· Twenty “One Teacher Govt. Schools” in dilapidated conditions we are re-constructed.
Dr. Menon is the patron of Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission Trust, which runs a free hospital here. DE-addiction camps are also held here.
Through Santhi Medical Information centre, he has been working with the District Administration of Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh for the construction of Prefabricated Anganwadis. These works were undertaken on the special request of the District commissioner of Changlang district and thus the required materials were transported from Kerala to commence the works.

· Rehabilitation of monks &children who were devastated by the Uttarakhand floods of 2013.
· Inspired by the Swachh Bharath Mission, he has sponsored and introduced for the first time in South India, a modern incinerator to process wastage in his home town Thrissur
